Of course, Today is the Best Day of my Life.
Today, blessed by God and the resiliency of my ancestors, I celebrate my 60th birthday. It is the first major celebration of my #chaordic year, and I could NOT be more thankful. I arose in good health, in the arms of My Beloved, who, after 30 years of marriage, has celebrated more birthdays with me than any other person in my life.
Of Course, Today is the Best Day of my Life.
Of course, today is the best day of my life. I have a full day of work ahead of me. I am blessed to have the opportunity to do work that I love, fills my cup, and permits me to steward the stories of a new generation. I acknowledge that the work I have today is beyond anything I could have imagined. I acknowledge my privilege, and commit to be the best steward of the gifts and opportunities at my disposal.
Of Course, Today is the Best Day of my Life.
I am packing for an adventure trip tomorrow which reinforces for me the depth and breadth of my blessings. My sisters (those I chose for myself) are spiriting me away to celebrate. I need only bring myself. I is an extraordinary gift to have a demonstration of the love that others have for me. Love is an active verb. Practice it obsessively.
Of Course, Today is the Best Day of my Life.
I had a conversation with my coach this morning and learned that my greatest trigger is the thing I often do to others. In articulating how to respond to that trigger, I have also considered NOT doing those very things to trigger others. Learning to be in the world requires you to model the person you want others to strive to become.
Of Course.
Of course, today is the best day of my life, according to my morning meditation, which didn’t know that today is my birthday. What I Iearned this morning is this…

This year, I discovered the brilliance of Steven Willis, who gave me insight I didn’t know I needed, and now cannot live without. A good Episcopal, I received a blessing for my birthday in worship last Sunday. i humbly received it on behalf of the ancestors who could not celebrate.
As is the case with all those I’ve lost, I celebrate our milestones collectively, for those who cannot be here. I thank my family and my village for the warm embrace in which they enfold me. It is confirmation of my blessings. Lord, I thank You.
