Morning Devotional 3.21.26

โ€œThere remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters Godโ€™s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.โ€
โ€ญโ€ญHebrewsโ€ฌ โ€ญ4โ€ฌ:โ€ญ9โ€ฌ-โ€ญ11โ€ฌ โ€ญNIVโ€ฌโ€ฌ

Sabbath rest. This is so much more than just a day off. Sabbath-rest, or Sabbatismos is a Greek term emphasizing โ€œperpetual, spiritual rest rather than just a traditional, physical day off. This is more than a day. We are admonished to @make every effort to enter that rest, appreciating that we are perpetually held.

What does this look and feel like?
Quieting the noise in your head, and slowing your respiration.
Breathing deeply.
Maybe it means putting your hand on your heart, reminding yourself that you donโ€™t make it beat, and pausing to feel it and offer thanks.
How will you give thanks today for your manifold gifts?
