31 Days of Liminality

To Be Blessed in Giving, You Must Joyfully Receive

In Acts 20:35 Paul teaches us,

…it is more blessed to give than to receive…

your refusal of assistance reveals your pride.  You also do the giver a disservice by robbing them of their ability to be a blessing.

We gotta do better.

I am slowly learning that my inclination to give and never receive is related to both a desire to control and a lack of trust.

It is only when I encounter resistance that I am chastised. Is it that I only want what I want? Or, is it that I suspect the motives of anyone who would be generous? Is that who we have become?

What if we allowed ourselves to be loved. To be honored. To be deserving of Grace? What if we accepted from one another the good we desire to give?

Do one nice thing today, for no other reason than you can. Then, come back and tell me about it.
