Dancing With Myself

All week, I’ve been dancing with myself. When Billy Idol penned the lyrics to this 80s hit, he found the then trendy practice in Japanese clubs of dancing alone (there were mirrors along every wall) instead of with partners fascinating. When I write “dancing with myself,” I refer to my habit of teasing something out from the innermost recesses of me, giving it light and air to better understand it.
